Vision:

To lead transformative AI research and innovation that advances sustainable development across agriculture, aquaculture, healthcare, biodiversity, education, and tourism in Sabah and Malaysia—towards a resilient, inclusive, and intelligent nation.

Mission:

  • To harness advanced AI technologies to tackle real-world sustainability challenges across priority sectors vital to Malaysia’s socio-economic and environmental future.

  • To develop scalable, responsible, and inclusive AI-driven solutions that improve productivity, protect ecosystems, and enhance well-being in rural and urban communities.

  • To foster strong partnerships with local stakeholders, government agencies, industries, and indigenous communities in Sabah to ensure context-aware innovation.

  • To support national and regional aspirations in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), National AI Roadmap, and Malaysia MADANI vision through impactful research and AI capacity building.

Objectives:

  1. AI for Smart and Sustainable Agriculture
    Design AI-powered tools for precision farming, crop health prediction, soil monitoring, and food supply chain optimization tailored to the needs of Sabah’s smallholders and agri-entrepreneurs.

  2. AI-Enhanced Aquaculture Systems
    Develop intelligent aquaculture monitoring and management platforms to reduce mortality, optimize water quality, and ensure sustainable seafood production for rural coastal communities.

  3. Intelligent and Equitable Healthcare
    Apply AI for early disease detection, remote health monitoring, and healthcare delivery optimization in underserved and rural populations, with a focus on Indigenous health equity in Sabah.

  4. Biodiversity Conservation and Environmental Monitoring
    Use AI and computer vision for real-time biodiversity monitoring, species detection, and ecological data modeling in Sabah’s rich rainforest and marine ecosystems.

  5. Transformative AI in Education
    Implement AI-driven learning analytics, personalized education platforms, and student behavior modeling to improve access, engagement, and performance in Sabah’s education landscape.

  6. Tourism Intelligence and Cultural Sustainability
    Create smart tourism analytics platforms that leverage AI for tourist behavior prediction, environmental impact monitoring, and cultural heritage preservation.

  7. Data-Driven Policy and Governance
    Provide actionable insights to policymakers using AI-powered simulations, predictive models, and dashboards to guide sustainable development decisions in Sabah.
